#13 Mental Health Stories: Living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DiD)
May 16, 2018 Marcus Pibworth

Hello and welcome to another episode in the Mental Health Stories section of the podcast.

This week I was watching a video on Youtube by a guy called Michael Stone and one of the lines that really stuck with me was when he said “I think the most radical thing you can do in a culture is to tell the stories that are not being told".

And that’s what I see this space as, a space to tell the stories that are not necessarily being told. Stories that break away from the mainstream narrative, but shed a light on the unique way that we all experience life.

Today this space will be handed over to someone to tell their story of living with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DiD). It wasn’t something that I had come across before, so it felt like a privilege to be invited to listen. For a little bit of background, DiD is also sometimes known as multiple personality disorder, and it is characterised by at least two distinct and relatively enduring personality states. Because of the sensitive nature of some of their experience they asked to be anonymous at this point - so I’ll play the recording now and let the story speak for itself.
